Clean Development Mechanism Project

Pioneering implementation of India's first CFL-based Clean Development Mechanism project under UNFCCC, establishing new standards for energy efficiency and carbon reduction in developing nations

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Transforming Energy Efficiency Through CDM

Spearheaded the implementation of India's pioneering Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project under the Kyoto Protocol 1997, focusing on the transformative Bachat Lamp Yojana initiative. This groundbreaking project, executed through the Power Ministry's Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), marked a significant milestone in India's commitment to sustainable energy practices and carbon emission reduction.

Our comprehensive role encompassed project formulation, field implementation management, and rigorous monitoring and verification processes. Working closely with Distribution Companies (DISCOMs), State Electricity Boards (SEB), and Designated Operating Entities, we successfully navigated the complex requirements of UNFCCC for Carbon Emission Reductions certification through BEE.

The project's success led to HPL's inclusion in seven CDM-based project activities within UNFCCC's Program of Activities, establishing new standards for energy efficiency programs in developing nations. Our expertise in energy services extended to conducting comprehensive energy audits and management for government establishments, promoting the concept of Green Buildings, and pioneering innovative approaches to energy conservation.
